A few months before the Olympic games O’shea Jones from Toledo Ohio almost lost her life in a house fire. She lost everything! Even her boxing gloves. Today O’shea Jones is a bronze medalist at the 2020 Tokyo games and is in the USA Boxing Olympic history books.  O’shea joins 2x gold medalist Claressa Shields and 2012 bronze Medalist Marlen Esparza as the only Team USA woman to win medals in the Summer Olympic games. O’shea is also the first female welterweight to win gold and the Pan American Games in Peru. O’shea comes from a boxing family her younger brother is signed with DAZN and has been featured on a few major undercards. O’Shea is in my opinion will be world champion in the near future and will inspire many female athletes to practice the sport of boxing with her amazing skills and personality. I would’ve wished many of the media outlets would’ve shared her story more these Olympics games similar to how they were sharing the stories of other athletes, but that will be a topic for another post. Right now it’s all about “Shea Baby” as Tiger Johnson would say. Congrats Team USA, Congrats O’shea, Congrats to the coaches for maintaining a strong US women’s boxing program.
