“Never stop believing in yourself! The power of belief is just unbearable, impregnable. Power of belief! Confidence breeds success and success breeds confidence. Confidence applied properly will surpass a genius. There’s nothing like belief! I’m on here because I believed”

 Mike Tyson 2021

I am far from the most religious person in the world. While I do wear a rosary and a gold Jesus piece for fashion around my neck I’d be lying if I said I could recite a Hail Mary. However, before any sparring session or boxing bout, I would say a prayer to whatever higher power would listen and ask for protection for both myself and the boxer across from me. We are in a sport where all it takes is one punch to end your boxing career or life. THIS SPORT CHOOSES US! WE DO NOT CHOOSE BOXING! I have always said that the energy of warriors from the past is passed down to us from generation to generation. Thus the reason I told you the Guerrilla story in Pt.1

THAT’S WHY WE FIGHT. THAT’S WHY WE LACE THEM UP! WE CARRY THE ENEGRY OF WARRIORS INSIDE OF US!

I DON’T NEED BOXING.

I have never suffered! I had and continue to have a great life. I have education, money opportunities, BUT THIS SPORT CALLS ME! IT CALLS US and we don’t know why.

Why do we embrace this gladiator’s sport? Let me answer it.

The gods of war call for you, and when they call you must answer! I know I sound crazy but it’s true.

Iron Mike Tyson 100 years from now will be in the history books mentioned with the greatest warriors known to man. Iron Mike Tyson from Brownsville New York was known as the most feared man on the planet and to be honest, he still is. Standing only 5’10 Mike Tyson legend is cemented in the history books. When people hear Achilles, Sun Tzu, Alexander the Great, Gengish Khan, Vlad the impellor, Prince Hector of Troy, Pancho Villa, Tupac Amaru, Richard the Lion Heart, or Charlemagne we will speak of Iron Mike Tyson as that modern-day warrior that was the most feared man on the planet. Tyson stood side by side well know New York, Cincinnati, LA, and DC drug dealers, killers, pimps and was well respected in all ghettos across the US not to mention the world.  Tyson is worshiped and seen as a boxing god by many athletes across all sports. He is known to be worshiped in Bulgaria, Cambodia, Ghana, Panama, and Brentwood Maryland. Ironically Mike hates it, “I’m Nobody, Don’t Worship me” “I’m Scum” “I anit shit” “ I’m worthless”

Like all these great warriors mentioned they all had their insecurities. Napoleon and Alexander The Great, Khan, were all “Momma Boys” They had women control them and feared the women in their lives more than any warrior. Tyson is no different a man with social predictors of moral disengagement. An athlete’s mental development is as important as their physical development. Moral development focuses on the emergence of change and understanding morality from childhood to adulthood which plays a huge role in athletes of all levels and their application on and off their field of play regardless of their sport. Moral disengagement helps separate moral ideas and reactions from and individuals’ beliefs and experiences, creating at times irrational behaviors that can be against one’s moral principles.

Mike Tysons has been on record saying rules did not apply to him; he did whatever to whoever and did not care of the aftermath. Tysons moral disengagement with opponents, fans, team members, coaches, and caretakers resulted in fights with his coach Teddy Atlas, rape charges that resulted in jail time, fights with his promoter Don King, and street fights with boxer Mitch Green in front of the famous New York boutique Dapper Dan, not to mention his infamous ear bite of Evander Holyfield. However, with all that said, all of these social predictors such as lack of empathy for coaches, staff, and opponents possibly contributed to the pain and motivation that allowed him to take it into his training and fights. This brings me to the question of does being socially disengaged becomes a good thing or a bad thing when you’re an athlete or better yet when your Mike Tyson?

WE CALL MIKE CRAZY, BUT WAS HE?
